One of the biggest challenges we’ve had so far is matching the painted head colours with the plastacine arms, bodies and legs. When trying to work this out I remembered one of my students from almost 10 years ago, who made all her own colours for characters.
So how do you do it? Well the key is to just think you’re mixing paint. With every character we create we now write down instructions on how to make up their skin tones and any other unique colours.
Believe it or not, mixing Plastacine like paint works. But it takes time. You have to keep working it and kneading it until the colours are really mixed together. I recommend starting small so you get an idea if you’re getting the colour you’re after quite quickly. Remember your mixing ratios.
